Viognier is a white grape varietal believed to have originated in present day Croatia before making its way to the Rhone region of France. It can be found as a stand-alone wine or often blended with Marsanne and Roussanne. Our Viognier comes from our Estate Vineyard "Campo dos Robles” (Field of Two Oaks) located at Campovida. This California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) vineyard is located in the town of Hopland along the banks of the upper Russian River. The gravelly-loam soil of the riverbed terroir provides an ideal site for growing world class Rhône white varietals. This vineyard is unique in that it has two very distinct growing areas, one that is extremely shaded and one in full sun. The contrast of these two growing areas bring fresh acidity and tropical fruit notes to the wine. This Viognier is unfiltered, adding complexity, body, and a plethora of antioxidants. The nose displays beautiful floral, peachy, pithy notes followed by some green characteristics on the palate with an uplifting, crisp finish. This Viognier will pair excellently with herbed orange chicken, lemon halibut, or a delicata squash risotto.
