Winemaker Notes

This Grenache is one of our member favorites. It is a beautiful balance of bright, spicy, savory, herbal and light body. Notes of dark cherry and strawberry lift a textured mix of white pepper and dried herbs. The light color is deceptive of the lingering complexity.

Vineyard Notes

Grenache is a red grape originating in Northern Spain. Today, it is one of the most widely planted grapes with production in Spain, Australia. California, and Southern Rhone region of France. Our Grenache comes from Dark Horse Ranch a 160-acre Biodynamic certified vineyard. Located 8 miles north of the town of Hopland in Mendocino County, along the banks of the upper Russian River and sitting at 750 feet of altitude. This site provides outstanding conditions to grow this sun thirsty, late ripening varietal.
