2016 Campo di Rossa
Winemaker Notes:
A very complex nose with many layers derived from each varietal. The Aroma is dominated by dark raspberry, sweet blackberry, and ripe fig coming mainly from the Grenache, Carignane, and Counoise. The Syrah adds some spicy black peppercorn character as well as structure and a silky mouthfeel. The Petite Sirah helps tie the blend together and adds depth, complexity, and boysenberry on the finish.
Vineyard Notes:
Our Campo di Rossa red blend is composed of five different Rhone varietals grown at distinctly different vineyard sites in Mendocino County. Due to the climate of the inner Mendocino County, these vineyards are well suited to grow world-class Rhone varietals. Each varietal was picked, fermented, and aged separately. Keeping them separate allows for the flavors and aromas to develop independently. The final blend is determined and assembled just prior to bottling.
